We are now six games into the regular season (post grading), and we now have quite a clear picture as to how each of our teams are placed in their respective grades.

MJFC Under 11 Lions

Round 9 – defeated by East Malvern by 25 points

Round 10 – defeated by Waverley Park Hawks by 26 points

These boys are continuing to be courageous in defeat against strong opposition, with this season shaping as being a great learning experience for them.  Despite just the one win from six games, a percentage of 71.32% suggests they continue to be very competitive.

MJFC Under 11 Griffins

Round 9 – defeated Dingley by 60 points

Round 10 – defeated by East Malvern by 9 points

A 10 goal win against fellow finals aspirant Dingley has helped their cause, and there is a finals spot on offer if this team puts their best foot forward over the remainder of the season.

MJFC Under 12 Lionesses

Round 9 – defeated by Dingley by 49 points

Round 10 – defeated Ormond by 26 points

Sitting pretty at third on the ladder having only lost one game for the season, these girls appear to be finals bound!  Get behind them Beena!

MJFC Under 12 Griffins

Round 9 – defeated South Melbourne Districts by 23 by 4 points

Round 10 – defeated by Ashwood by 53 points

Now placed second on the ladder after their first loss of the season on the weekend, these boys appear to be finals bound.  Keep it up lads!

MJFC Under 12 Lions

Round 9 – defeated by Ajax Jets by 10 points

Round 10 – defeated East Brighton by 28 points

These boys are still within striking distance of the top four, and it would be a brave person to suggest that these reigning premiers aren’t going to play their way out of contention without a fight!

MJFC Under 13 Griffins (Div. 2)

Round 9 – defeated by St Peters by 46 points

Round 10 – defeated by Mordialloc Braeside by 29 points

A really disappointing result in round 9 against finals challenger St. Peters was followed by an extremely courageous effort against the undefeated ladder leader in round 10.  Need to win three of their final four games to challenge for finals, and are certainly up for the challenge!

MJFC Under 13 Lions (Div. 5)

Round 9 – defeated by East Brighton by 27 points

Round 10 – defeated by East Sandringham by 40 points

These boys keep giving their all week in, week out, and most importantly continue to keep enjoying and improving their football.

MJFC Under 14 Lions (Div 2)

Round 9 – defeated by St Bedes Mentone by 40 points

Round 10 – defeated by Highett/Cheltenham by a fair margin…

Planning for 2019 has already commenced for these boys, but they will play out the season with tenacity and pride.

MJFC Under 15 Lions (Div 3)

Round 9 – defeated by Mordialloc Braeside by 19 points

Round 10 – defeated Waverley Park Hawks by 47 points

Second on the ladder in an amazingly even competition, these boys are right in the mix to have a massive say in the finals in later in the year!

MJFC Under 16 Lions (Div 2)

Round 9 – defeated by Waverley Park Hawks by 81 points

Round 10 – defeated by East Brighton Vampires by 2 points

19 scoring shots to 11 in round 10 wasn’t enough for these boys to notch up their first win in the season proper.  With improved efforts like that, their first win must surely be just around the corner.

MJFC Under 17 Lions (Div 2)

Round 9 – defeated St Kilda City by 45 points

Round 10 – defeated by South Melbourne District by 12 points

Currently fourth on the ladder in yet another very even competition, this team has its destiny in their own hands.

With regard to our seven modified rules teams (Under 8, Under 9 and Under 10, including our new U10 Girls team), scores cannot be published, though we can all rest assured much enjoyment is being had by the players, coaches and parents alike!
