With the completion of the first four rounds of Grading games, the first two matches of the ‘season proper’ have been completed, with each of the respective teams getting a sense as to how they are placed in their respective divisions.

MJFC Under 11 Lions

Round 5 – defeated by St Peters FC by 2 points

Round 6 – defeated South Melbourne Districts by 29 points

A strong start to the season and are well placed in their division to challenge for a finals position with continued improvement.

MJFC Under 12 Griffins

Round 5 – defeated AJAX by 44 points

Round 6 – defeated East Brighton by 96 points

A very impressive start to the season by these boys who currently sit atop the ladder with a percentage of 800%. With some more competitive fixtures coming up, we’ll be more informed as to how these boys are placed after the next few weeks.

MJFC Under 12 Lions

Round 5 – defeated by Ashwood by 36 points

Round 6 – defeated by East Malvern by 19 points

With the bulk of this team comprised of 2017 Premiership players, these boys are relishing the challenge of a higher division.  Plenty of heart and intestinal fortitude has been shown with brave last quarter efforts against very strong opposition, and these boys will learn plenty about the game of football over the remainder of the season.

MJFC Under 13 Griffins (Div. 2)

Round 5 – defeated by St Bedes Mentone by 87 points

Round 6 – Bye

After earning promotion to a higher division after some impressive football during the grading games, this team’s introduction to Division 2 was against the premiership fancy.  There is plenty of upside in this team and we’ll be looking forward to seeing how they respond over the coming weeks.

MJFC Under 13 Lions (Div. 5)

Round 5 – defeated by St Bedes Mentone by 31 points

Round 6 – defeated by Mordialloc Braeside by 20 points

MJFC Under 14 Lions (Div 2)

Round 5 – defeated by Highett/Cheltenham by 90 points

Round 6 – defeated by Dingley JFC by 63 points

After an impressive first up win in their first grading game, times have been tough for this team.  Currently calling out to the SMJFL to reallocate them to their rightful division – come on guys, give us a break!

———————————————–

MJFC Under 15 Lions (Div 3)

Round 5 – defeated Waverley Park Hawks by 40 points

Round 6 – defeated Port/South Melbourne by 27 points

With comfortable victories in their first two matches, this team appears well placed to be thereabouts at the business end of the season.

———————————————–

MJFC Under 16 Lions (Div 2)

Round 5 – defeated by Cheltenham JFC by 76 points

Round 6 – defeated by East Malvern by 55 points

Difficult to understand the grading system for this age group; though it appears some re-grading is currently taking place to straighten things out.

———————————————–

MJFC Under 17 Lions (Div 2)

Round 5 – defeated Oakleigh by 22 points

Round 6 – defeated Highett/Cheltenham by 64 points

Two strong wins to start the season sees this outfit sitting atop the ladder, though will have a better idea as to where they are placed after a couple of challenging fixtures in the coming weeks.
